What we collect

When analytics are active, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used. GA4 collects: page views, approximate location (country and city level only), device type, browser, the URL that referred you here, and session duration. No names, email addresses, or any personally identifying information are ever collected. We have no way to identify individual visitors.

This site has no sign-up forms, no comment sections, and no accounts. If you don't interact with anything beyond reading pages, nothing beyond the above is recorded.

Cookies

GA4 sets cookies to distinguish between sessions and measure returning visits. These are analytics cookies only — there are no advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party remarketing tools on this site. You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop GA4 tracking entirely.

Third parties

Google Analytics is the only third-party service we use. Google may process analytics data according to their own policies — you can read Google's Privacy Policy for details. We do not sell data to anyone. We do not share data with advertisers. We do not use any ad networks.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained for 14 months, which is Google Analytics' default retention period. We do not hold any other user data.

Your rights

If you're in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold, and to object to processing. If you're in California, CCPA gives you similar rights over personal information. In practice, since we collect no identifying information, there is nothing to access or delete — but if you have a question or concern, contact us at contact@countriesby.org and we'll respond promptly.
